Half Say Volume's Fine. 44% Are Overwhelmed.

Korbyt and Reworked surveyed 1,175 full-time US employees and found a contradiction every communicator should sit with: half say the message volume they're getting is "about right," while 44% feel overwhelmed. The most likely explanation isn't reassuring — employees have gotten so good at filtering that they no longer register the noise. That's not a win. 89% say they're only moderately confident they're not missing important updates.

The trust data is the story inside the story. 73% say who sends a message matters more than the channel or format — and the most trusted sender is the direct manager, not senior leadership. Meanwhile 81% say they can spot AI-written content, and 45% immediately question its accuracy when they do. The survey's phrase "reduce, don't produce" cuts to what employees actually want from AI in their comms stack.
